It is an online program designed for any adult who is caring for or working with children and wants to understand the impact of trauma on their development…to become more trauma-informed.  The program is 3 Units and within each unit are 3 Lessons.  You’ll have 90 days to complete all three Units.  At the end of each Unit there is a Test.  Pass with 80% or above and it will open the next Unit.  Those who complete all three units will receive their certification & credentialing badge.

No, this Level 1 Certification has no expiration date.  However, when ATN updates this certification course, you will be notified about the updates and additions and can decide if you’d like to update your certification to the new credential.

The coursework for the certification takes approximately 5 hours to complete (not including the Unit Tests).  Once you register for this certification course, you will have 90 calendar days to complete the coursework.

Each certified participant will receive a pdf certificate that can be printed, as well as the badge credential that can be added to your email signature and social media profile(s) and linked back to a place on ATN’s website that explains the certification objectives to potential employers or others checking out your credentials.

In this Level 1, there’s an opportunity to take a comprehensive Test and bypass completing the coursework.  If that test is passed with 80% or above, the certification will automatically be awarded..  This option is for anyone seeking the credential who has significant experience in the trauma-informed field. To do this, purchase the Trauma-Informed Certification Test-Out Option (instead of the course).  If you don’t pass this Test-Out Test, no worries…the coursework will be made available for you to continue working through the lessons like the rest of us!  (The Test-Out Test is a ONE-TIME opportunity.) Each Unit Test can be taken twice.  If you don’t receive an 80% or above on your first attempt, we recommend that you review the lessons in that unit, paying close attention to the Knowledge Checks in each lesson.  We also recommend using the Notes Pages provided in each lesson.  When ready, activate the second Unit Test, which will be slightly different than the original Unit Test.  To move forward in the coursework, the test must be completed with an 80% or above.

YES!  The University of Georgia’s School of Social Work offers 5.0 hours for Trauma-Informed Certification Level 1.  This is available as an add-on purchase of $20 and is not valid for the Test-Our option.  These CEs will be issued as core CEUs, in accordance with Rule 135-B of the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists.

It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that their state licensure board has a reciprocal agreement with the Georgia Composite Board.

For those in related professions such as Educators, School Nurses, Resource Officers and others, CEs can be added to your certification, but please check with your employer and/or licensing boards to determine if they will be acceptable

At this point, ATN’s Level 1 Certification is only available online and we have no plans to offer an in-person or live virtual training.  The course does have closed captioning and the ability to download a Notes Pages file for each lesson.  There is also the capability to speed up, slow down and rewind each lesson, giving the participant total flexibility in accessing the material and rewatching/reviewing any portions you want.
