ATN is thrilled to welcome Sal Khan as a keynote speaker at the Learning Brain Exchange, the Attachment & Trauma Network’s virtual conference on February 19–20, 2027.
Sal’s interest in education began well before Khan Academy. As a student at MIT, he developed math software for children with ADHD and tutored public school students. Later, he began helping his cousins with math from a distance. Those tutoring sessions grew into Khan Academy, a nonprofit built around the belief that a free, world-class education should be available to anyone, anywhere.
Today, Khan Academy reaches learners and teachers around the world with free lessons and practice in subjects ranging from math and science to writing and the humanities. Sal has also founded Schoolhouse.world, Khan Lab School, and Khan World School, each exploring ways to make personalized learning more accessible. He is the author of The One World Schoolhouse and Brave New Words.
Sal’s work asks educators to consider what can happen when students have the chance to practice, make mistakes, receive support, and keep learning. That question fits naturally at the Learning Brain Exchange, where we’ll explore the science of learning, developing brains, and the conditions that help students thrive.
