Godwin Higa is the principal of the first trauma-informed school in San Diego, Cherokee  Elementary School. Dana Brown became involved with Cherokee Elementary through  her work in the community of San Diego. Dr. Audrey Hokoda works with Ms. Brown  and Mr. Higa to provide parents with a community outreach within the school. In this  interview, Mr. Higa explains his journey to creating a trauma-informed school. Ms.  Brown explains how she became involved in working with the students at the school to  develop leadership and self-confidence skills. Dr. Hokoda explains how she created a  place within the school where parents can get support and information. Together they  have created a healing neighborhood sanctuary that is an incredible model for us all.
