Every day, school leaders, teachers, counselors, and youth-serving professionals work to change student outcomes—and, ultimately, change lives. We know children need support. We know adults can make a difference.
The question is: How do we build learning environments where students feel safe, supported, regulated, and ready to learn?
FOUNDATIONS was created to help answer that question.
FOUNDATIONS is the first offering in ATN’s new Cultivating Safe & Supportive Learning Spaces series. It is designed to provide the foundational professional development schools and organizations need to strengthen trauma-informed, resilience-building practices across their teams.
This flexible, six-part professional learning series helps organizations build safe and supportive environments for children and youth. The program can be customized to align with your staff’s needs, your organization’s goals, and your implementation timeline.
A Flexible Training Model Designed for Your Team
FOUNDATIONS is designed to be delivered by members of your own staff, giving your organization the flexibility to implement the training in the way that works best for you.
The six modules are rooted in SAMHSA’s Trauma-Informed Principles and informed by the Attachment & Trauma Network’s 30 years of experience supporting families, schools, and communities impacted by early childhood trauma.
Each module includes structured facilitator guidance, notes, and professional learning materials that can be adapted for in-person, hybrid, or asynchronous delivery.
What Makes FOUNDATIONS Different?
FOUNDATIONS is more than a set of training materials. It is designed to help organizations build internal capacity for lasting change.
Facilitator Certification Included
The staff members you identify as facilitators will be asked to complete ATN’s Level 1 Trauma-Informed Certification. This certification is included in the FOUNDATIONS pricing and helps ensure facilitators have a strong grounding in trauma-informed principles before leading the modules.
Coaching and Consultation Available
Optional coaching and consultation services are available to help your leadership team design the professional development experience, sequence the modules, and align implementation with your organization’s goals. ATN’s experienced school leaders are also available to provide ongoing support throughout your implementation.
Available Modules
The first three FOUNDATIONS modules are currently available to purchase and download:
- From Informed to Responsive: Understanding Levels of Trauma Awareness in Schools
- Rooted & Regulated: Caring for Ourselves as We Care for Students
- Neuroscience for Safe and Supportive Classrooms
The remaining three modules will be available as the full series continues to roll out.
Each module provides approximately 5–7 hours of professional learning material and can be delivered in a variety of formats. Many schools and organizations may choose to complete all six modules over more than one school year. Once purchased, the package can be sequenced, used, and reused to support ongoing professional learning.
Designed to Be Accessible and Sustainable
FOUNDATIONS is reasonably priced because the Attachment & Trauma Network is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help heal children impacted by trauma by supporting their families, schools, and communities.
The modules are available in three package sizes, allowing organizations to choose the option that best fits the number of adults being trained and the number of facilitators leading the work. Coaching and consultation packages are sold separately, giving your organization the option to receive as much or as little additional support as needed.
Build the Foundation for Lasting Change
FOUNDATIONS is ATN’s response to the need for practical, flexible, and meaningful trauma-informed professional development. It gives schools and youth-serving organizations the fundamental knowledge and tools to better understand how trauma and toxic stress affect children’s behavior, relationships, and ability to learn.
Most importantly, it helps adults take the next step: creating safer, more supportive environments where children can grow, connect, regulate, and thrive.
