The PATH framework

What PATH covers

ATN developed PATH after reviewing the parenting strategies taught to families of traumatized children. Successful therapeutic parenting programs share these tenets:

Safety Actual safety for everyone in the family, and felt safety for the child.

Structure and nurture High structure and high nurture, held in careful balance.

Connected parenting Looking under behavior to what it is communicating.

Intentional parenting Knowing why you are using a specific tool or strategy.

Long-term perspective Self-care so caregivers can stay regulated.
