First Time @ CTSS – Here’s What You Shouldn’t Miss

Is this your first Creating Trauma-Sensitive Schools Conference?  You’re not alone! More than half of our attendees are here for the first time.  Want to know where to start?  Sessions are categorized “Introductory” or “Advanced”. You’re welcomed to attend either. The Introductory sessions will spend time covering fundamental topics like: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) study, basic neuroscience of toxic stress and how it impacts learning, and what it means to be trauma-informed.  The Advanced sessions assume that you’ve been exposed to that information and build on it.

Here are some workshops this year we’d recommend for those seeking Introductory information, where all attendees will learn something:

  • The Brain Behind the Behavior:  Trauma-Responsive Leadership in Action, Dustin Springer, PhD – Sunday, Jun 28 @ 9:45 am
  • Let the Glitter Settle:  Mindfulness Beyond the Glitter Jar, Stefanie Lachenauer, EdM – Sunday, Jun 28 @ 11:15 am
  • Equipping Educators & Students with Nervous System Tools for Resilience and Regulation, Elisabeth Kristof, MA & Martin Simms – Sunday, Jun 28 @ 2:00 pm
  • The Brain-Aligned Student Success Journey, James Moffett, MEd – Monday, Jun 29 @ 8:30 am
  • Pillars with Purpose: Building a Trauma-Informed School from the Ground Up, Karen Grove, EdS, Monday, Jun 29 @12:30 pm

Also, don’t miss our Experiential Afternoon on Sunday, Jun 28.  We’ll have art therapy, movement activities, drumming and more.
